The “I” in Rise is a brand new school initiative that was introduced this year to the 2023-2024 school year. But this isn’t the only year for “I” in Rise, as it will stick around for many more school years and graduating classes to come.
When interviewing the principal of the school, Mr. Newell, he seemed very excited for this new chapter in the school and was very proud of what he believes this school can accomplish.
The Rise stands for respect, intent, self control, and excellence. It was created by the staff, and it was made to lead the student body to become better people together.
The “I” in Rise acknowledges that it takes hard work and dedication to become a better person, but the work will be worth it. Through the work of becoming better people, students will hopefully grow into student leaders, even if it only starts with a single person. It is greatly exaggerated through “I” in Rise that it only takes one person to bring change. The “I” is every single person, it is the reader who is the “I”, and it is that reader who can make a change. No person is too small and no feat is too great for a student not to be able to achieve.
If you want to make a change, Rachael Varland is the teacher to contact. She is just as excited and eager to help insite change in this school. Her email is [email protected].
To follow the “I” in Rise is to promote kindness, and be the best person you can be. By pursuing this goal no student will be left out, no matter the scenario. It teaches examples such as inviting a student to the lunch table or talking to someone who looks like they are alone. Inclusion is important in all students, and is something that will create a very positive change in the school.
It is easy for any student to find the difficulty in talking to someone they do not know, but that is what “I” in Rise is all about. Even if it is difficult, it is important that you are the “I” in Rise.
So, how do Eagles Rise? How does our student body become better people to our peers and ourselves? Eagles Rise by pounding the stone. Greatness requires grit, determination, character, and perseverance, but it is something that everybody can achieve. It doesn’t take much to work up to greatness and become the “I” in Rise, you just need to be 1% better today, tomorrow, and everyday moving forward. Keep flying above, remember to be the bigger person in every situation, and lead the school in a way that follows the “I” in Rise initiative. Go Eagles.
