Toni Reynolds set a goal her sophomore year, and last week, she saw her hard work and dedication come to fruition: she was accepted to the University of Illinois. She will major in bioengineering/biomedical engineering.

“Their engineering program is world renowned,” Reynolds said. “That became the goal to shoot for (when I was) a sophomore.”

A visit to campus really drove home the fact that she had her heart set on U of I. “When I visited the campus, I immediately fell in love,” she said. “The campus is HUGE and spreads over an entire town. It’s a very warm environment and provides plenty of opportunities for everyone. It also has each school in their own area, so it gives a space for students to mingle with their school of study.”

Biomedical engineering is the application of engineering principles and designs to the medical field. “I want to work with genetics and other biological sciences to create new medicine, medical tools, and methods in the medical field,” Reynolds said.
