From August to October, students at CM spent their Friday nights cheering on our football team. People around our community have enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the stadium these past few months. Each week, students brought their school spirit by dressing up following different themes such as whiteout, neon, USA, etc. Here is a wrap-up of this year’s season.
The varsity football team is one of the many parts included in the Friday games. They were welcomed to the season with a pep assembly early in the school year. All the students and teachers gathered to send off the team to their first game. While the turnout of the season may not be what they wanted, Bethalto supporters still came to cheer them on. Ultimately, they ended the season with 2 wins and 7 losses.
The cheer team brought Eagle spirit to the sidelines of every game. The student section joined them in reciting the cheers. Even when the game was getting tough or the students started to leave, the cheerleaders stayed to support our Eagles. With a smile on their faces, they stuck it out to the end no matter the size of the crowd. Even officer Shank joined in on the fun, bringing some of his own posters to get the student section cheering.
During halftime, Pazzazz and the Marching Eagles took center stage. Pazzazz performed many different routines with some even having special guests. At the homecoming game, they invited some of the boys to join them in their Barbie themed dance. Senior night also brought along some new faces to the field in the “Spooky Squad” performance. Their competition season is coming up soon, good luck Pazzazz!
Alongside them, the Marching Eagles presented their show, Heist. This year, they made CM history by making it to Finals in the Potosi Bi-State Invitational, receiving 5th place. The band had a great year, placing in every competition they attended. At their first competition, Metro-East Marching Classic, they received best colorguard, music, and visuals. Congratulations to the CM Marching Eagles for a wonderful season!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to come out to the games and spend time with our Eagle family. We are looking forward to what next year’s season will bring!
