Ask Lifesavers Article with Ms. Varland
LifeSavers is a school club run by Ms. Varland. They meet during the school year and also go on retreats with select students. This article is an interview with Ms. Varland and an Eaglet writer Reagan Bloodworth.
What made you decide to be involved with Lifesavers?
I got involved in LifeSavers when the previous teacher in charge retired. She showed me the ropes and I went on my first retreat. The retreat opened my eyes to what LifeSavers is, and it really sparked my passion for suicide prevention.
What is your favorite part of Lifesavers?
My favorite part of LifeSavers is seeing the students take on more leadership roles throughout the year. The retreat fires everyone up and it is really cool to see teens caring for other teens they just met.
Why should others join Lifesavers?
LifeSavers is not just a club; it’s a community of like-minded individuals who care about the well-being of others. Joining offers a chance to connect with people who share a passion for creating a safe and positive school environment.
