Hawkins new to CM, but not to teaching

The Civic Memorial staff has welcomed four new members. One of these members happens to be another Ms. Hawkins.

Amy Hawkins has joined Jerilyn Hawkins in the business education department after Trent Morgan accepted another job.

Hawkins is new to CM, but she has plenty of teaching experience. “This is my 19th year — 6 years at Greenfield High School; 11 years at East Alton Wood River and 2 years at Bethalto (in the alternative program).”

Her classes at CM have been larger than what she is used to. Due to this, she is finding it a bit difficult to get to know her students as well as she would like to.

Hawkins attended college at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. She has also attended classes at Lewis and Clark and Greenville College. Hawkins has two sons and a dog named Daisy. One of her sons is twenty-three and married and the other is nineteen and attending college. She is close with a lot of her extended family. Her hobbies include axe throwing, scrap booking, hiking and watching football.

Hawkins said that this year “has been good so far. It has been an adjustment, but it is getting better every day.”
