Boys bowling team had several highlights

The boys’ bowling season came to a close on January 25 with their sectional tournament at Camelot Bowl in Collinsville, IL.

Although the boys did not place on the team or individual level, it was a great experience for seniors Ethan Heaviside, Matthew Moore, Corey Nooner, sophomores Anden Hawk and Austin Mullins, and freshmen Eric Harkey and Jordan Teems. Many memories were made and many bonds strengthened.

Although none of the boys placed at this specific tournament, they had many great achievements this season. In November, Moore had varsity high series in matches against EAWR and Roxana. Nooner had his share of varsity high series action against the Jersey Panthers. Teems scored JV high series time and time again throughout the season, making his teammates proud, especially as a freshman. In January, Mullins bowled his way to a high game of 267 at the Jersey Invite and Moore grabbed high game and second highest series at the Jersey regional with a game of 268 and a 1298 series, helping his team place fourth overall.

When asked about their favorite moments from the season, the entire team fondly reflected on “Finland,” a Spongebob-reference mantra they adopted late in the season and used to power them through their final weeks. Senior Ethan Heaviside said his favorite memory from the season was bowling a 279. Though the season is over, the memories made this season will last a lifetime.
