The scene is set in Paris, France 1831. Gypsies are living and hiding in the
streets of Paris. They are discriminated against, but all they want to do is live their lives to the fullest. There is a mysterious man living in the towers of Notre Dame, guarded by the man who hates gypsies the most. Join me in this story of hardship, rebellion and romance.

An eight-week turn around can be difficult for a show of this magnitude, but student director Molly Williams is confident in the abilities of both the cast and crew. “For the 8-week turn around, I’m expecting the Hunchback of Notre Dame to come out as great as our musicals always do. I’ve worked with our cast and crew several times now, and I have full confidence that everyone–especially our seniors–will be giving this show their all. We have determination and talent dripping from our drama department, so I know that I am most looking forward to a fun, eye-catching, and entrancing production from everyone! I hope that everyone who sees the show enjoys it as much as we enjoyed putting it together.”

Director Michaela Davis, CM’s band director, says, “I am extremely excited to start working with the cast and crew on The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The story and conclusion is one that is timeless – supporting others and standing up for what is right even if it’s difficult and challenging. We are beginning our second week of rehearsals and just from the first week, I can definitively say that this show will be amazing. The cast are hardworking, ambitious, and talented and the crew are full of ideas! I’m extremely thankful to be working alongside (CM teachers) Mrs. Neilson, Mr. Juergemeier, Mr. Kalker, and Mr. Selby – their own experiences and training will help our students to take this production to the next level!”

Sets designer Halstead Selby, a science teacher at CM, says, “This musical is quite an undertaking, both on stage and behind the scenes! Yet I’m confident in our cast and crew – this show will wow each audience member, taking them right to Paris.”

This show will be one for the ages with colorful costumes, intricate sets, and a group of hardworking cast, crew, and directors. Tickets go on sale two weeks in advance of the show.
