Twelve people from the Virtual Enterprise class at Civic Memorial went to Chicago to compete with other schools for the best business.

The class is instructed by business teacher Jerilyn Hawkins.

“We are hosting two booths at the Virtual Enterprise Great Lakes Regional Conference and Exhibitions,” Hawkins said. “We are participating in live competitions with other businesses.”

Virtual Enterprise is a new course at CM this year. It’s an in-school entrepreneurship program and global business simulation that mimics the functions of real businesses.

The class is competing to win Salesmanship, Best Booth Design, Marketing Plan, and Elevated Pitch. “I am excited to see the competitions of other school and what they have to offer,” Hawkins said.

Students Jafer AlKalef, Nick Brown, Morgan Butler, Nate Forrester, Dylan Grant, Hunter Hatfield, Zach Hearn, Jaydon Heeren, Max McCune, Shawn Motzer, Emily Pipkin, and Isabella Roberts are on the trip.

The team went to Chicago Thursday; the competition takes place today.
